The Calusa Garden Club committee went to work. Sharon Lewis, Eva Kubinsky, and Monique Doyle were the main committee members who provided the designs in 2020 and planted the container plants in 2021-2022.

Speaker Alice White addressed the members on Planting Native Trees.  White is President of People for Trees, Inc., a 501(c) 3 charitable and educational organization with its headquarters in North Port, Florida. 

Calusa Garden Club of Marco Island members hosted a Christmas flower arranging workshop at Marco Island Library.  The workshop is underwritten by Friends of the Library and is free to the participants who register through the Library.

Calusa Garden Club of Marco Island members celebrated the holidays with a “Black and White” Gala at the Marco Island Yacht Club on Tuesday, December 7. Members and their guests dressed in black and white.

Calusa Garden Club of Marco Island members Gadabouts group visited Fort Myers on Tuesday, December 9, 2021 to enjoy a docent-led tour of the Ford and Edison Estates.  The Gadabouts group visits destinations of interest to garden club members every month

On Tuesday, November 22, 2021, Calusa Garden Club of Marco Island held a Plant, Thanksgiving Arrangement, and Succulent Dish Garden Sale for the public. The sale was held outdoors at Marco Lutheran Church parking lot. What a success!

On Monday, October 18, Calusa Garden Club members met at Linda Schwoeppe’s home for an educational workshop on orchid cultivation. Schwoeppe, who is the Horticulture Chairman for the club, is a member of Gulf Coast Orchid Society and has grown hundreds of orchids and displays them at her home.

Calusa Garden Club of Marco Island members plan a sale of plants, succulent dish gardens, and Thanksgiving centerpieces for Tuesday, November 23, 2021 – two days prior to Thanksgiving.

With groundbreaking about to take place for the new band shell and restrooms at Veterans Park, Tim Pinter of the City of Marco Island informed Linda Colombo, chairman of the Garden Club’s Memorial Markers committee, that the Blue Star Memorial was in the way of construction!  So Colombo sprang into action . . .

For the July workshop of Calusa Garden Club of Marco Island,  Club members Linda Schwoeppe and Eve Kubinsky prepared an educational presentation and workshop materials to educate Club members about tillandsia.  The workshop, held at Kubinsky’s residence, featured displays of tillandsia throughout the property.
